THE Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, has said the army will hunt the July 11 bomb suspects until they are no more. “We are going to follow the terrorists who attacked us to Somalia and punish them,” he said, adding that the UPDF would remain in Somalia until peace is restored there.

He was speaking on Saturday during a fundraising drive for the construction of a surgical ward at Rugarama health centre in Rukungiri district. About sh52.6m was raised in cash and pledges.

Nyakairima gave sh30m from himself and friends then auctioned President Yoweri Museveni’s portrait, which was bought by the Rujumbura MP, Jim Muhwezi, at sh4m.

The health centre, owned by the North Kigezi Diocese, was upgraded from health centre III to health centre IV starting July 1. Nyakairima said it was agreed at the recent African Union summit that other countries would join in the fight to restore peace in Somalia, but none has sent troops. He lauded the church for setting up the health centre.

The North Kigezi bishop, Dr. Edward Muhima, said they are working hard to upgrade the health centre to a small rural hospital.
