<b>Catechist kills man over bet</b><br>A 40-year-old catechist has been arrested over killing a man following a challenge at a drinking joint. Joseph Okurenga of Pubidi village in Nebbi shot Alfred Makmot with an arrow.

A 40-year-old catechist has been arrested over killing a man following a challenge at a drinking joint. Joseph Okurenga of Pubidi village in Nebbi shot Alfred Makmot with an arrow. The victim died as his colleagues tried in vain to remove the arrow. Okurenga was later beaten into coma by Makmot’s enraged relatives. Phillip Mukasa, the regional Police spokesperson, said Okurenga is currently admitted at Nebbi hospital under security surveillance.

Northern schools win festivals
Kalongo and Mary Immaculate primary schools on Saturday won this year’s regional music and drama festivals. They will represent the Nanga Group at the national level in Kampala. Kalongo, which represented Agago district, scooped 735 points, while Gulu’s Mary Immaculate came second with 727 points.
