MAJ. Gen Jim Muhwezi has dismissed protests by his rival Dr. Alex Kamugisha, whom he defeated in the NRM polls for Rujumbura. Kamugisha has rejected the results, citing irregularities, including harassment of voters by veterans.

“At his age and with his level of education, Kamugisha should not peddle such lies. Accusing veterans in the constituency of beating people, will make him lose even the little support he had.

He was quite intimidating, even in his home in Buhunga, but people still voted against him,” Muhwezi said yesterday, while reacting to Kamugisha’s remarks published in New Vision.

Muhwezi said the people of Rujumbura were not interested in divisive politics, “but want unity, development and transformation.”
