CITY tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba yesterday beat up a New Vision photojournalist, Arthur Kintu, at the on-going conference of the special organs of NRM at Namboole Stadium.

At around 5:30pm after it emerged that Basajjabalaba had been re-elected chairperson of the League of Entrepreneurs, Kintu moved closer to Basajjabalaba to take his photograph.

Instead, the NRM Bushenyi district chairman confronted him, demanding to know who had given him permission to take the picture. Kintu respondedn that as an accredited journalist, he did not need permission to take pictures in the arena.

“Do you know who I am?” Basajjabalaba asked. He sprung from his seat and slapped Kintu and tried to grab his camera.

He punched him in the mouth, drawing blood. Kintu reported to the Police stationed at Namboole Stadium and recorded a case of assault against the businessman. This is the second time this year that Basajjabalaba attacks a journalist.

Early this year, he beat up another journalist at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters as the controversial tycoon squared up with the Mufti, Sheikh Ramadhan Mubajje.
