Minister Kajara takes Kyenjojo MP seat

The state minister for finance in charge of investment, Aston Kajara, has been voted Mwenge South MP following his re-election in the just concluded Kyenjojo primary elections.

The state minister for finance in charge of investment, Aston Kajara, has been voted Mwenge South MP following his re-election in the just concluded Kyenjojo primary elections.

Kajara won with 11,736 votes, while his closest rival William Kaija, who is also the Kumi resident district commissioner, got 7,996. Kaija was followed by Vincent Mugisa who got 7,802 votes, Gilbert Rubihayo with 4,032 and Hannington Mbabazi, with163 votes.

His colleague, education state minister Dr. Kamada Batalinga was declared NRM flag-bearer for the Bwamba county MP seat in Bundibugyo after winning with 15,661votes.

Simoli Baguma, the runner-up, got 12,113 votes, while Dr. William Sikyehunda got 1,112 votes. Jane Mbabazi, the district NRM returning officer, declared the winners on Monday.

David Muhumuza beat the Mwenge North MP Col. Tom Butime after getting 20,944 votes against Butime’s 18,480. Others in the race were Col. Steven Kabangira, who got 12,973 votes, followed by David Nkojo with 791 and Ephraim Agaba, who tailed with 759.

For the Kyenjojo Woman MP seat, 28-year-old Linda Timbigamba beat the incumbent, Joyce Kwebiha with 24,922 votes. Kwebiha got 20,106 votes. She was followed by Miriam Kesiime with 14,123 votes. Theresa Kabasinguzi came last with 11,911.

James Byamukama won the Kyenjojo district LC5 seat after beating Peter Tinkasimire with 53,007 votes. Tinkasimire got 14,447 votes.
