Women celebrate cultural change
Women in Nebbi district are celebrating the Alur Kingdom decision to abolish cultural practices deemed to violate women rights.

Alur culture dictates that newly-married women do not eat chicken and grasshoppers until their first born reaches 15 years of age.

Dr. Edwin Wathum, the premier of the Alur Kingdom, recently said the kingdom wants to change from such traditional ways.

“We should not tolerate things which violate women rights,” Wathum said.
