Three of the priests at the forefront of opposing the outgoing bishop of Kinkizi Diocese, John Wilson Ntegyerize, have denounced their activities under the Leadership Concern Fellowship and rejoined the mainstream church.

Ntegyerize on Sunday received the priests during a service at St. Peters Cathedral Nyakatare in Kanungu town.

He said he accepted the Rev. David Rubarema, the Rev. Wilson Twinomuhwezi and the Rev. David Kamara back after they apologised.

Their coming back was preceded by that of the Rev. Dr. Hamlet Mbabazi Kabushenga who left the Leadership Fellowship Concern.

The priests had dragged the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Henry Luke Orombi, the Bishop-elect of Kinkiizi Diocese, the Rev. Can. Bernard Bagaba, and Ntegyereize to court, saying Bagaba’s election by the House of Bishops was illegal.

However, Rubarema denied taking the archbishop to court. The group had accused Bagaba of fathering two children out of wedlock.

A DNA test, commissioned by the church, exonerated him. The priests had contended that the nomination committee, chaired by Ntegyereize, denied several synod members a chance to choose a candidate of their choice.
