FORTY five districts countrywide are to benefit from a grant to improve efficiency in service delivery in districts.

The sh80b grant, part of a US government assistance programme designed to improve social sector service delivery with emphasis on health and HIV/AIDS, at local government level, will be managed under the strengthening decentralization for sustainability( SDS) programme.

“The main purpose of SDS is to improve on the results and institutional management capacity,” said Dr Christine Nabiryo, the deputy chief of party of the SDS programme.

She said the SDS Programme will make contributions to Uganda’s attainment of both national and international development targets, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The SDS programme will be under local government ministry but collaboration has also been established with line ministries.
