THE Inter-party Cooperation (IPC) in Mityana district has nominated Irene Kiryowa as their flag-bearer for the post of the district Woman MP.

IPC is a political group comprised of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Uganda People’s Congress, Conservative Party and Justice Forum.

In 2006, Kiryowa contested as an independent candidate for the same post. She has now joined FDC.

She will face Democratic Party’s Susan Nabuuna and NRM’s incumbent Sylvia Namabidde Ssenabulya.

Kiryowa was nominated unopposed in Mityana on Saturday during a meeting chaired by IPC district chairperson Fred Mukasa.

Over 30 other candidates were selected to contest for various positions in the district.

Mukasa will battle with DP’s Wasswa Kikaawa for Mityana town council LC3 chairperson.

“We are all fighting to oust Yellow (NRM). So if we continue to contest in the same areas with DP, we may give a chance to NRM. We can leave out some constituencies,” he noted.

The meeting resolved to leave Kaddu Mukasa (Independent) in his position as the Mityana South MP.

Musa Nkalubo Bulega will be the IPC flag-bearer for the Busujju County MP seat.

Bulega will face economic monitoring state minister Vincent Nyanzi, who won the NRM primaries.

In Mityana North constituency, Innocent Kasozi will be the IPC flag-bearer as the MP.

Kasozi will tussle it out with Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, who won the NRM primaries.
