Oil institute gets Nigeria support

Setting up of a petroleum training institute in Uganda is overdue, Fidel Mama Ayogu, the Nigerian Ambassador to Uganda observed during the celebrations to mark Nigeria’s National Day and 50th Independence Anniversary last week.

Ayogu said Nigeria would support the institute. “We are still waiting the Government’s response on our proposal to provide development assistance for the petroleum training institute from the foreign affairs ministry,” Ayogu said.

Trinidad and Tobago businessmen have also proposed to set up a similar petroleum training institute to be run as a joint venture with Ugandan business partners.

Daudi Migereko, the Government chief whip, applauded the Nigerian Government and people for investing in Uganda. Nigerian major investments in the country the National Insurance Corporation and Gold Trust Bank.
