MAKERERE University has re-instated its post-graduate programme in education management and administration, the university academic registrar has said.

Speaking to New Vision yesterday, Afred Masikye Namoah said the senate re-instated the programme after approving its curriculum.

In August, the university suspended the programme over inadequate teaching staff, sending the students who had been admitted for the course into panic.

However, Masikye said by the time the university suspended the programme, the faculty had not finished reviewing it.

The development came after 33 students had already sued Makerere University for scrapping the course. The students filed their petition recently at the Kampala High Court through Lukwago and Company Advocates.

They were seeking a judicial review of the decision. They wanted to be awarded damages for inconveniences and for Makerere to meet the costs of the petition.

Meanwhile, sources said some lecturers of post-graduate programmes were on a ‘go-slow’ strike, following the university’s failure to pay their salaries and allowances over the past two years.
