EDITOR: According to Busia Police, Rachid Waliendo’s body was found in a newly finished house on September 30.

They found on him a card bearing the name and phone number of his sister who is a daughter of a prominent national politician.

Nevertheless they hurriedly buried him in a public cemetery as unidentified! They claimed my nephew committed suicide. Many of us disagree and suspect foul play.

Why didn’t Police use local radios to alert Rachid’s relatives as other Police stations do? Rachid’s other sister lives in Busia.

Why did they use the phone number found on him after burying him? Who wrote the postmortem report? Why were the cuts on Rachid's body not stitched? What happened to his lady friend? A finished house is always locked or guarded.

How did Rachid get inside? He worked and lived in Tororo and not Busia. We saw cuts on his head and one eye seemed to have been forcefully removed from its socket.

We urgently appeal to the Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Kale Kayihura, to intervene and persuade Busia Police to answer these questions so that we may mourn our beloved Rachid properly.
