Three held over Hoima murder

THE Police in Kibaale district have arrested three people over murdering a businessman in Buraru village in Kiziramfubi sub-county in Hoima district.

Ernest Byaruhanga, 24, Bruhan Francisco and Allen Kemigisa, the wife of Byaruhanga, are accused of killing Justus Byamukama, 37.

The trio was intercepted at Kagadi Taxi Park by taxi operators following a tip-off from Hoima district.

The two men earlier worked for Byamukama as casual labourers. They left to work for other people.

Herbert Asiimwe, a close fried of Byamukama, said: “These people were seen with Byamukama for quite a long period of time and they were demanding money from him.”

He said the men had spent some time without staying in the village, but when they returned, Byamukama was murdered.

According to Assimwe, after the murder, the trio vanished from the village at night.

“I was called by Byamukama’s wife at around 2:00am on Thursday morning and told that he had not returned home. When we reached the shop, it was wide open and money was stolen,” he told New Vision.

The accused were arrested with over sh400,000 on the way to their home village in Nyamasa Bwikara sub-county in Kibaale district.

Ben Watson Abura, the officer in charge of Kagadi Police Station, said they were in the process of transferring the suspects to Hoima for further interrogation.
