THE search for Miss All-Central Universities is still on. Last Saturday, Nkumba University converged to choose its representatives for the pageant’s finale on November 19, at Theatre La Bonita.

Several didn’t know the courses they do, but we got a winner. Doreen Kabareebe, a second-year bachelor of public administration student, came first, followed by Agnes Atim. Each could win a plot of land and a trip for two to Pretoria, South Africa, if they win.

The pageant has, over the last month, carried out auditions in six universities: Makerere, Kyambogo, Kampala International, Kampala University, Makerere University Business School and Nkumba. Each sends two to the finale. But Makerere sends four since her contestants had exceptional qualities that prompted the organisers to select a bigger number.

The four selected from the Makerere chapter, whose auditions ran a week earlier than the Nkumba chapter, are: Ayisha Nagudi, who won, followed by runners-up Naira Adams Sumaiya, Beatrice Njeru and Candy Eunice.

This Saturday, Kampala University hopefuls battle it out. It will be the last audition before the finale next month.
