COACH Robert ‘Bobby’ Williamson could miss the Cranes international friendly match with Trinidad and Tobago due in Kampala on November 17.

Williamson is currently back home in Scotland on leave and he is expected to return to the country a week to the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup kick-off in Dar es Salaam on November 27.

When contacted on phone yesterday, Williamson said: “I have not got any communication from FUFA regarding that match.”

If it happens, this will be the first time Williamson misses a Cranes match since taking up the job two years ago.

The 49-year-old Scot, who has inspired the Cranes to back-to-back CECAFA victories and impressive start in the 2012 AFCON qualifiers, is currently out of contract.

FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said yesterday that Moses Basena could take full control of the team’s preparations for the game.

“It is the decision our technical team is yet to make but the team can play without Bobby because we want him to take his leave and be fresh for the other games (CECAFA and AFCON qualifiers)” Mulindwa said.

“We are not going to get the Obuas and the Sekagyas for this friendly. It is for home based players”.

Out of eight countries FUFA in July requested to have the Cranes play friendly matches with in preparations for AFCON qualifiers, it is Trinidad and Tobago, who have responded positively so far. But the Caribbean country wants FUFA to host the match in Kampala.

Trinidad and Tobago hope to use the trip to proceed and tour Rwanda with game against the Amavubi Stars on November 23.
