A ten-year-old boy was on Monday night shot dead and three others injured by suspected Karimojong warriors during a dance in Moroto.

The victims were rushed to Moroto Hospital.

The incident occurred at Lokitumo village, Mogosi parish in Rupa sub-county.

An unidentified relative of one of the victims described the attack as revenge by the warriors.

He said the assailants did not steal any property from the family.

The Moroto district Police commander, Richard Anyama, on Tuesday identified the deceased as Namuria Adie son of Kathile Lokodo and the injured as Ilem Chegem, Lomong Longol and Lokol Lokorinyang.

Anyama said the Police, through the village-based intelligence system, will ensure the culprits are brought to book.

He advised the residents to always be alert especially during festivities, saying the warriors take advantage of such gatherings to attack.

He urged the village elders to form a night surveillance team to monitor the areas.

In a related development, a 65-year-old man was shot dead by suspected Pian warriors on Sunday in Lorengechora sub-county in Napak district.

The assailants also defiled his two daughters aged seven and nine. The girls are admitted at Matany Hospital.
