THREE people failed to be nominated for the different positions of LC3 in Bugiri district after failing to meet the requirements.

The three were identified as Stephen Magero, the LC3 chairman for Bulidha sub-county, Samson Muwuma for the position of LC3 councillor for Nkusi cell in Bugiri town council and Richard Musubo, who wants to be the LC3 councillor for Bwole cell in Bugiri town council.

The district registrar, Jimmy Musimbi, said the three failed to present the required signatures from their supporters. He added that even the people who nominated them lacked voters cards.

Musimbi said 59 people had been nominated to contest for various LC3 positions in the district by press time.

He said over 278 people were expected to have been nominated by the end of the exercise today.

Most of the supporters who had accompanied their candidates were blocked from reaching the nomination centre at the Old Court Hall by the Police for security reasons.

The officer in charge of Bugiri Central Police Station, Richard Musisi, said the candidates were supposed to be accompanied by at least four people in order to avoid violence or chaos at the nomination centre.

Among those nominated for the position of LC3 Bugiri town council were the incumbent, Saul Baliraine, who is standing as an independent.

Others were NRM candidate James Musondole, who is eyeing the LC3 chair, and Sande Babu, another independent candidate. Others nominated yesterday were David Isabirye (FDC) for LC3 councillor for Ndifakulya village in Bugiri town council and John Magero (NRM) for LC3 chairperson for Bulidha sub-county.

Most of the candidates complained of a slow nomination process.

Fred Baine, who is contesting for LC3 councillor for Nakabale village, Bulesa sub-county, said he spent two days in the queue but failed to get nominated.
