THE opposition Chief Whip, Kassiano Wadri, has launched the campaign bureau for the Inter Party Cooperation candidate, Dr. Kizza Besigye, in West Nile.

The bureau comprises FDC district chairpersons, general secretaries, secretaries for women, persons with disabilities, workers representatives, elders, youth representatives, ex-servicemen, party district returning officers and FDC candidates.

The bureau was launched at Continental Hotel in Arua town on Monday. It includes supporters and party officials from all over West Nile except Moyo and Adjumani, who were excluded due to transport constraints.

Wadri, who will coordinate the bureau, said the team was drilled on good electioneering and reminded about the challenges ahead. “I told them not to use mudslinging as a campaign tool, but to explain what FDC can do better than NRM if it is voted into power,” he said.

He said the West Nile bureau is a replica of the national campaign bureau, headed by Sam Njuba and deputized by Maj. Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu.

Wandera Ogalo is the head of the technical directorate, while Amanya Mushega, Bwanika Bbale, Dr. Francis Epetait, Onyango Odur and Wadri are regional coordinators for western, central, eastern, northern and West Nile respectively.

Wadri accused the NRM of putting pressure on a landlord in Kamwokya who had offered to rent his building to the IPC national bureau. The landlord withdrew the offer.

Wadri, who will battle against his long time adversary Obiga Kania Mario for the Terego county seat, said he was not worried by the current political climate.

MPs Christine Bako Abia and John Arumadri Drazu of Madi Okollo constituency attended the function.
