NEWLY crowned North American Boxing Association (NABA) middleweight champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma has been left with two options as he vies for an early season to contest for the World Boxing Association (WBA) middleweight crown.

The California based Ugandan boxer, who is a recent winner over American Joey Gilbert, became a top contender to challenge WBA middleweight super champion Felix Sturm, next year.

The Ugandan prize fight can opt to challenge for the vacant super champion middleweight belt in the WBA or opt to challenge Sturm, but the latest ratings for this boxing body have the position of top contender still vacant in the 160 pound division.

“I have worked hard to get here and my focus is on making a successful defence of my crown,” a modest Ouma said.

“I am looking forward to challenging Felix Sturm, when that moment arrives and I am going to take it with both hands.”

Ouma in 2004 won the vacant IBF light middleweight belt over American Verno Phillips, but lost it after 19 months.
