SIX candidates have been nominated to contest for the Nebbi district LC5 seat.

They include Sylvester Donge Opar of the Democratic party, Robert Okumu for the National Resistance Movement and Marius Okwir Amula representing Forum for Democratic Change.

Others are Wilfred Thogang for Uganda People Congress, George Othuba standing as an Independent and George William Alenyo, the former LC5 chairman of Nebbi, who lost to John Paschal Wapokra in 2006.

The six were nominated on Thursday and Friday by Kenneth Kayebwe, the district returning officer, at the district electoral commission office amidst cheers from their supporters.

They promised to lobby for better roads, improve health services and the district’s academic performance.
