HARUNA Jumba, a loser in the Busiro South NRM primaries, has asked the High Court to block the party from presenting Grace Nakamanya as the flag-bearer, saying the election was flawed.

Jumba filed an application for judicial review, through Kusiima and Company Advocates. Also sued are the NRM electoral commission and Nakamanya.

Jumba said the NRM party ignored his petition and declared Nakamanya as the flag-bearer for next year’s parliamentary polls.

Nominations for parliamentary candidates are scheduled for November 25 and 26.

In an affidavit, Jumba contends that Nakamanya’s endorsement by the party was tainted with fraud and manipulation.

In his application, Jumba noted that the number of votes said to be cast were more than those registered.

He added that some of the declarations on the tally sheets were false.

Jumba noted that voting did not take place at the four polling stations of Gerenge, Kavenyanya, Kitufu and Kasenyi.

He said if the National Electoral Commission went ahead to register Nakamanya as the NRM flag-bearer, he would suffer “irreparable loss and damage”.

Court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of the case.
