The Nairobi bound Kampala coach had 42 passengers aboard when it rammed into the tractor that was ferrying Sugarcane to Mumias Sugar Company in Western Kenya

The incident occurred at Matungu trading centre, 10 kilomtres from Mumias town. The deceased are yet to be named.

Just last month, 21 people died in an accident in which a KK Traveller bus from Koboko district collided with a fuel tanker in Nwoya district.

The incident, blamed on poor visibility, took place at Wii-Anaka in Purongo sub-county, about 67km from the Karuma–Gulu junction.

In September, 28 people were seriously injured after a bus they were travelling in overturned in Kyengera on the Kampala-Masaka highway. Thebus was heading to Kisoro from Kampala.

The Kampala South regional traffic officer, Steven Odongkara, attributed theaccident to over speeding. Eyewitnesses said the bus overturned five times, destroying merchandise and breaking an electric pole.

The injured included three women and a six-year-old child only identified as Falaja. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
