SC Villa takes on Police today after a crisis meeting seeking answers as to why the Jogoos have plunged to their worst ever Super League form.

The 16-time champions’ board of directors met the club’s technical team yesterday in a bid to reverse the downward trend. Villa, who finished second in their maiden season in the top league in 1981, are currently 11th in the 14-team race.

“We are meeting the technical team to explain their performance,” stated Villa boss Fred Muwema. Last night’s meeting also followed a week’s absence of Villa coach Sula Kato from the team’s training.

Kato has not been at Villa Park since the 2-2 draw with Maroons FC. His assistant Paul Mukatabala has since been in charge.

Muwema dismissed claims that Kato had jumped ship. “He is still Villa coach,” he insisted and also called for patience. “We have a young team that needs time.”

The situation is no better at Police. The cops are currently second last. They have won only one match and drawn three of their eight matches.

Jinja based Victors FC will be looking for their third win without first choice goalkeeper Sam Kawalya and strikers Hassan Mubiru and Dan Sserunkuuma.

Kawalya has malaria while Mubiru and Sserunkuuma are nursing knee injuries they picked during their 2-0 defeat of Gulu United last week.

But coach George “Best” Nsimbe is eyeing a win that should be able to propel the team to a joint third place with champions Bunamwaya, whose matches have been called off until after the CECAFA Challenge Cup.

Victors will be boosted by the return of Godfrey Ssentongo who has been on a two match suspension for indiscipline.

Skipper Fred Muhumuza will add creativity in midfield as Ali Kimera stands in for Kawalya in goal.

The Jinja-based club is currently in fifth place with ten points out of eight games played.

Masaka will be out to make up for their controversial loss on Friday to KCC.

Second-placed Proline host Maroons in a match where a win for the hosts will strengthen their title chase.
