BUOYED by a factory prepared Subaru N 14, Kampala businessman Desh Kananura has finally gathered courage to plunge into the highly competitive Ugandan motor rallying.

He will make a maiden appearance in Mbarara Motor Club (MMC) Super Sprint at Lubiri this Sunday. Kananura bought the Subaru N14, the most powerful car in the country, from Emma Katto.

Kananura has singled out former national champion Ronald Ssebuguzi as the man to beat in the race that has so far attracted 42 drivers including old guards Kato and Charles Muhangi. Kato will be a guest driver having sold off his car. “Ssebuguzi knows my potential and I want to floor him at Lubiri,” said Kananura who was in the company of Ssebuguzi.

Ssebuguzi then hit back, “My boss is determined to beat me. I like his confidence and ambition.”

Jas Mangat (Subaru N12), Shafiq Semujju (Subaru N10), Ponsiano Lwakataka (Subaru N8), Peter Kakaire (Subaru N4), Nasser Mutebi (Subaru N4), Godfrey Kiyaga (Subaru N10) and Wycliff Bukenya (Subaru N10) are some of the prominent drivers in the race.
