BREAKING Cranes dominance, winning $30,000 (sh60m) and claiming the new CECAFA Tusker Cup trophy will be key incentives as the 37th edition of the regional championship kicks off today in Tanzania capital of Dar es Salaam.

The 60,000 seater National stadium is expected to be to full capacity as hosts Tanzania hustle it out with Zambia in the official opening match.

In the early kick off, Burundi takes on Somalia.

Defending champions Uganda Cranes, jetted in on Thursday at 11:30pm and were received by over 50 chanting fans at the Julius Nyerere airport.

Cranes are seeking a 12th CECAFA title.

“CECAFA has always given me a Challenge because all the teams are strong so we are not taking it for granted. It won’t be easy winning it here just as it has always been else where but we are well prepared,” Cranes coach Bobby Williamson on arrival at Julius Nyerere International stadium.

Cranes are in group C together with Kenya, Ethiopia and Malawi and will be kicking off their campaign of retaining the cup on Monday against Ethiopia at Uhuru Stadium at 2pm.

Tanzania has always been a good hunting place for the Cranes having won it here in 1968 and again in 1992.
