FRANCIS Jjemba notched a penalty in the 34th minute as Express piped Utoda and picked their second successive victory in the Uganda Super League at Wankulukuku yesterday.

Referee Stephen Kyaasi had penalised Utoda for Yasin Mubiru’s unsportsmanly play against Godfrey Kavulu in the box.

Despite looking rustier than during their 1-0 win against KCC last week, the Red Eagles foiled numerous moves by Utoda players.

The win moved Express to third place on the table with 16 points from nine games. KCC leads the table with 21 points.

Meanwhile, league champions Bunamwaya and cup holders Victors FC yesterday had to plead with FUFA competitions committee to extend the registration deadline for the knock out Uganda Cup.

Committee secretary Moses Magogo had locked out the two clubs arguing that they showed no interest in the competition.

“We have a sponsor and we don’t want to look disorganised. We are coming out with rules and other related materials for the competition and you don’t want to appear disorganised,” Magogo said.

Maroons and Masaka LC were the other super league clubs that rushed to register. 14 Big League teams also failed to register by the closure of the exercise Tuesday.

Draws for the Uganda’s second biggest competition will be made at FUFA House on Saturday.
