MUSLIMS should not spill the blood of innocent people in the name of fighting holy wars (jihad), the chief executive and missionary in charge of the Amadiyya Muslim Association in Uganda has said.

Zahid Inayatullah sounded the warning during the annual conference at the association’s headquarters in Wandegeya, Kampala last week.

“The Messiah orders you to refrain from religious wars involving armed combat, killing and bloodshed,” Inayatullah told thousands of Muslims.

He castigated Islamic scholars who misinterpret jihad to mean defending Islam through bloodshed. He called upon Muslims to be peaceful and adhere to Prophet Mohammed’s teachings.

Sheik Yusuf Kaire advised the Muslims not to abandon their faith in the face of trouble. He said those who endure suffering and are patient would be rewarded by Allah.

The conference was held under the theme: “Those who strive in our path, we will surely guide them in our ways.”

It attracted participants from Uganda and Rwanda.
