BUGANDA princess Beatrice Namikka has been sued for defamation after she told the Kasubi tombs fire probe that former State House legal aide, Joseph Luzige, hired an arsonist to raze the place.

Namikka, formerly a care-taker of the tombs, on Monday told the ongoing judicial probe that Luzige received sh6m from Uganda’s permanent representative to the UN, Ruhakana Rugunda, to pay off the man who burnt the tombs.

The tombs, which were gutted on March 16, were housing the remains of Buganda’s former kings. Rugunda described the allegations as a fabrication.

The probe is being conducted at the Uganda Manufacturers Association Main Hall at Lugogo in Kampala. Luzige said Namikka’s malicious utterances would dent his profession and political career.
