GET INSPIRED

AS 2010 bids us farewell, we struggle to accomplish certain assignments at the last moment.

We are remembering the promises we made to the people in the village during the last festive season and we can’t afford to face them again without delivering.

Many people are getting more and more worried about what they have failed to accomplish this year. And it’s understandable.

For some, it’s getting married. You feel it is long overdue. For some ladies, not having children is the headache. It’s like every minute that clicks you are getting closer and closer to the reality of menopause.

For others, it’s material and career achievements. Probably you had planned that by December 2010, you would have bought land, built your house, acquired a car and resigned from your job to start your own business; but it has remained a New Year’s resolution, not a reality. Then there are those who had made up their minds to fight and defeat bad habits.

They had planned that by the end of 2010 they would have quit smoking, fled the sexual network and kissed goodbye to booze, but somehow, these vices are still threatening to accompany them to 2011. All said and done, one thing we should never lose is hope. Let’s use this time to re-examine strengths that we underutilised and the opportunities that bypassed us this year. Let each one of us make it a point to have a meeting with him/herself during this festive season.

Create the ‘me’ time that I once talked about in this column. Use this time to make serious decisions that will determine whether 2011 becomes different or if it will be like any other year.

You don’t have to call a clan meeting for consultations before you can make a decision to start waking up early or to give your children more time in the New Year!

It’s a personal decision. Refuse to be frustrated and end 2010 with stamina!
