THE future of Ugandan golf is on the right track according to the Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Rose Azuba Musoke.

The lady union boss made the observation at the pass out of over 150 junior golfers at the end of a three week ULGU junior golf clinic.

“It is the seventh year we are holding this clinic and we at the union believe that if you want to become a golfer you have to start early,” Musoke said.

“We have a number of ten year olds playing the game and we believe in the next four years they will be ready for the national junior team.”

Participants as young as four years took part in the clinic that was organised and sponsored by the ladies union. It was supported by the international body Royal and Ancient.

The participants came from the different clubs all over the country. The programme will resume next month in Entebbe, Jinja and Lira.

The ULGU is targeting to build a strong team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. For the first time golf will form part of the disciplines to be competed for.
