I finally gathered the guts to go out when I saw Maj Gen Kale Kayihura and his officers on television mobilising the public and meeting event organisers. I was impressed with the level of dedication exhibited by the poorly paid policemen.

It rained the whole day on Christmas Day but the Police officers endured the discomfort. As most of us were enjoying ourselves, the officers were patrolling all corners.

I urge the Police to maintain that kind of vigilance in 2011 and this should not only be during the festive season but throughout the year.

There is nowhere in the world where there can be total absence of crime but so far I have not heard any major incidents like what used to happen in the previous years.

The situation was generally normal and all the hooligans were kept at bay because Police presence was everywhere. Bravo, Major General Kayihura and thumbs up for the entire the entire Uganda Police Force.
