THE National Football League Committee (NFLC) and Uganda Football Coaches Association (UFCA) were upset by the unsportsmanly behaviour exhibited by Villa coach Micho Sredojevich before Saturday’s game.
NFLC secretary Justus Mugisha said he was not happy with Sredojevich’s actions that undoubtedly brought the sport into disrepute.
“It is very bad. It kills the image of football. We all have emotions but should be able to control them.”
Sredojevich, before kick off of Saturday’s match refused to shake hands with his KCC counterpart Jan Fray, whom he gestured to go away. Fray was moving towards him for a handshake — a tradition of coaches in Uganda.
He was reacting to Fray’s earlier comment about the poor and boring Yugoslav football as compared to the fast entertaining Danish game. Sredojevich, a Yugoslav did not take the comment in good faith.
“We have not yet received any formal complaint from anyone but it was a very bad act, which should be condemned strongly,” said Mugisha.
Coaches association boss Asuman Lubowa also had no kind words for the action.
“The two are not members of our association but we denounce their actions. Even though you disagreed somewhere, we are friends in football.”
