THE row between Kabarole district chairman, Augustine Kayonga, and Burahya county MP, Capt. Steven Basaliza, has intensified with the latter calling for investigations into the sh50m released by the Ministry of Education to the district for capacity-building.
Basaliza also called on the Inspector General of Government to investigate the appointment of the vice-chairperson, Rosemary Byabasaija.
He proposed investigations into the district land at Kitumba where the district headquarters were expected to be constructed.
Addressing a press conference at Parliament, Basaliza said Kayonga was appointing people illegally.
He alleged that Byabasaija did not have the required academic qualifications.
Basaliza’s claims follow Kayonga’s declaration last week that he would contest for the Burahya constituency to unseat the MP IN 2006.
But Basaliza said he was not scared of anyone.
“Iam only concerned about the way the district is managed,” Basaliza said.
He alleged that the district land at Kitumba had been divided into plots for individual benefit.
He also said the chairman had failed to control funds disbursed from the centre and that the district leadership had no respect for MPs. Ends
