The brilliant, professional army

SIR— This is an appeal to the top UPDF leaders to dress our soldiers better than they are currently doing.

SIR— This is an appeal to the top UPDF leaders to dress our soldiers better than they are currently doing. We saw them rehearse for the January 26 celebrations in their dull green baggy uniforms, which are extremely shabby and can generate low morale and low self-esteem. A soldier does not get much money, yet risks his life for the defence of his country. The least you can do to make his profession worthwhile is to show respect and appreciation by improving his conditions of living. This is externally reflected in smart, shining attire.
With all the big budget now allocated to defence, let us see justification through dressing our sons properly as a professional army. And I am not talking about the ceremonial dress they wear on special occasions. If you dress a soldier like a thug, he will behave like a thug.
