STEADY rains are expected in most parts of the country in mid-March, a preliminary seasonal forecast by the Meteorology Department has revealed.<br>

STEADY rains are expected in most parts of the country in mid-March, a preliminary seasonal forecast by the Meteorology Department has revealed.
The forecast, which covers February to April, predicts that there will be moderate rains in February and early March.
The central region, comprised of Mukono, Kayunga, Mpigi, Luweero, Sembabule, Rakai and Masaka districts, which has been experiencing dry spells since late January, will have an early onset of rain from mid-February.
The main season will set in mid-March to early April in eastern and northern Uganda, while the Lake Victoria Basin will experience a sharp increase of rains from late February to early March when the main season is expected to set in.
experts from the 10 Greater Horn of Africa countries are due to meet at Entebbe on March 3 to March 5 for a Climate Outlook Forum during which weather experts will update current forecasts and provide a comprehensive forecast for the next season which runs from March to May.
According to the preliminary forecast, El Nino rains are declining but temperatures will remain slightly above normal up to around April. Ends
