FORMER African champion Charles Muhangi will pair up with Fred Fiore in the Kobil 2003 rally this weekend.
Muhangi, also on his first outing in a Lancia Intergrale, formerly driven by Giovanni ‘Italiano’ Storchi, picked on Fiore after his co-driver Kisitu Mayanja indicated he would not be available.
Fiore used to navigate accident-prone Ken Luusa who has been out of action for eight months.
“Having a new navigator will not affect me. I will still power the machine as fast as always,” said the ever fiery Muhangi.
Muhangi is set to be flagged off first, with reigning and former national champions Charlie Lubega, Moses Lumala and Emma Katto chasing him.
The draw for the second round of the National Rally Championship series will be conducted today at 7.30pm at Regency Hotel in Kampala.
The rally will start on Friday at Garuga racing circuit immediately after scrutineering of cars at Kobil Bombo road.
On Saturday and Sunday drivers will tackle the second and third legs in Masaka, Lyantonde, Mbarara and Bushenyi.
The rally is sponsored by Kobil Uganda with Regency Group of Hotels, uganda telecom and Pepsi Cola as co-sponsors.
