TEN students of St. Maria Goretti S.S.S Katende were yesterday charged over the riot at the school in which millions worth of property, including the school bus and truck, were destroyed, reports <b>Florence Nakaayi.</b><br>

TEN students of St. Maria Goretti S.S.S Katende were yesterday charged over the riot at the school in which millions worth of property, including the school bus and truck, were destroyed, reports Florence Nakaayi.
The students, who appeared before Mpigi Court Chief Magistrate, Sanyu Bashekana, were charged with arson and malicious damage of property.
The accused are alleged to be part of the group that went on strike over claims that they they were served food contaminated with paraffin.
The prosecutor, Gabriel Okello, said the offence was committed on March 3.
Six of the students were released on a cash bail of sh100,000. Their sureties, mainly their parents, were bonded at sh500,000. Those without bail money and sureties were remanded in Mpigi Prison. Ends
