GULU assistant resident district commissioner Semei Okwir has advised residents to ignore Joseph Kony’s ceasefire declaration and continue staying in the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camps

GULU assistant resident district commissioner Semei Okwir has advised residents to ignore Joseph Kony’s ceasefire declaration and continue staying in the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camps, reports Dennis Ojwee.

In a live address on the Gulu-based Mega FM on Wednesday night, Okwir advised the people to avoid loitering around, saying the risk of abduction was still high.

“I would like to tell you that you should be on security alert. You should not think that since Joseph Kony allegedly ordered his fighters to cease fire, they will not abduct you,” he said.

He said some rebels were scattered and may not have got Kony’s message.
