SCHOOL children normally participate in music festivals to win fame, gifts and prizes. This time it was different.
For the second time, Lincoln International School of Uganda (LISU) organised an international junior choir festival. The aim was competition but to create friendship between children from different schools.
Eight schools participated in the well organised festival that took place at LISU campus in Lubowa.
Participating choirs from were LISU, Aga Khan Primary School, Heritage International School, Rainbow International School Kampala (RISK), Ambroseli International School (AMIS), Kabira International School (KIS), Green Hill Academy, and Bertina Primary School
Though it was a non-competitive festival, all choirs exercised seriousness, audibility and creativity. Each choir presented two songs under the theme, “Friendship.”
Clad in yellow T-shirts, black trousers and skirts, LISU pupils happily sang a welcome song for all the choirs.
The second choir, RISK presented Swing Low-I’m gonna lay down my burden-Medley and Circles of Friends. The choir was very audible and lively. The smiling and swinging pianist, Breese Tony, RISK music teacher added great flavour to the songs.
The guests who included Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa applauded all the choirs for their wonderful performance.
Mrs. Rashmi Nakhooda, LISU public relations officer said the festival is a yearly event.
The MC, Godfrey observed, “Music is important in uniting people from different parts of the World. It brings leisure and entertainment. Music and friendship is such a strong force. It is one of the ways of making friends.” Ends
