STRUGGLING in the fourth quarter, the Makerere team suffered a 47-45 loss to Sadolin Power, who got a big final period from point guard Diego Keels in the Makerere basketball Open.
With 18 seconds remaining and with the score tied at 45, Diego nailed a three-pointer, gift-wrapping a trophy for Power.
MUK fought all the way with Godwin Khisa scoring 19 points while teammate Moses Wasswa added 11 points but could not prevent the Sadolin onslaught.
Power eliminated Nkumba University 32-26 to face-off with MUK who had destroyed KIU 40-33 in the semifinals.
A-1 Challenge beat MUK Sparks for the women’s title.
Betty Namukasa and Cathy Muganzi bagged a combined 20points as A-1 Challenge saw off MUK Sparks 27-19 for their first 2003 basketball trophy.
Sparks eliminated Amazon Rhino 21-14 while A-1 blew out defending champs Lady Bucks 26-17 in the ladies semifinals.
