THE Katikkiro of Buganda, Joseph Ssemwogerere and his Cabinet, have lauded President Yoweri Museveni for initiating a debate on federo, reports Josephine Maseruka.
“It is very important for the head of State to pronounce himself publicly on the merits of the federal administration in Uganda. We wish him all the support in this project.”
“We in Buganda sincerely believe in this type of governance and we desire it for all regions of Uganda in the interest of peace, tranquillity, unity in diversity, avoidance of tension and wars, speedy development and minimisation of the scramble for positions in the central government,” Ssemwogerere said.
Addressing the Movement’s National Conference at the International Conference Centre on Sunday, Museveni called for a debate on federalism.
“I don’t want to oppress anybody. I want everybody to get what they want within a compromise formula, which will not create problems for others. I am ready to discuss with others about this issue,” Museveni said.
Ssemwogerere said for those who have not been able to embrace the merits of federalism, should have the liberty to enjoy the status quo.
