DENTED URA and KCC have to recover fast or wait for the Kakungulu Cup to fight for a berth in the continental club competitions next year.
The two clubs succumbed to league defeats over the weekend leaving table leaders SC Villa comfortably at the top and yet to lose a point. Express, who lost 1-2 to Green Buffaloes of Zambia in the CAF Cup on Saturday, have lost only four points. The two (KCC and URA) have to rediscover a winning rhythm or else sink further in oblivion.
URA has lost 11 points, all courtesy of the last five consecutive matches (four draws and a loss) and slipped from top to third place while KCC has lost 13 points.
“We still have more matches to play and even the first round is not over. I accept that we had a lapse in our defence but we are going to sharpen it ahead of our next encounters,” said KCC coach Abbey Nasur, who took over from Jan Fray last week.
But Nasur has to contend the pressure of pursuing Masaka, the first team to take maximum points from URA.
“We have never been out of the title contention. We just had some mistakes which we have rectified and I am sure we will go on winning our remaining two matches against Police and SC Villa so that we finish in a comfortable position in the first round,” said Ssemwogerere.
Express meet KCC on Saturday in a league tie. Ends
