LIRA – A member of the Family Planning Association has decried the high rate of pregnancies among old women in the district. Dorcas Ojungu from Aloi sub-county said the district had a high maternal mortality rate. She was speaking at the association’s annual general meeting.


Bakoko’s father hailed
ARUA – The state minister for youth and children affairs, Alex Kamugisha, has advised residents to emulate the late father of gender minister Zoe Bakoko Bakoru. He was on Friday speaking at the burial of Bakoko’s father, Sila Edemaga, at Ayivu county.


I’m still boss, says Dolo
MOYO – The district chairman, Peter Iku Dolo, has lashed out at the people who he said spread rumours that he had resigned as the LC5 chairman. He was speaking to the district councillors at Moyo Town Hall, recently. He warned that the culprits risked facing the law.

Security stepped up
GULU – The UPDF has stepped up security along all the roads in the north, security sources said on Sunday. The army has reportedly set up more detachments in strategic areas along roads. The move is intended to counter ambushes by the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels of Joseph Kony. Ends
