THE MP for Busujju county, Mubende, Vincent Nyanzi has said the former district LC5 chairman, Col. Kasirye Gwanga, wanted to kill him during the parliamentary election in 2001 to enable his candidate win the seat.
Nyanzi also said Kasirye told the O/C Mityana Police to arrest him, alleging that he had killed Vincent Mwebesa on the election date June 26, 2001.
The MP said this on Monday at the High Court Nakawa while testifying in a murder case of Mwebesa allegedly shot by his guard D/C Paul Byona at Banda village in Mubende.
Byona allegedly shoot three bullets at a tipper truck with people after it knocked the MP’s car. The truck occupants are said to have been armed with sticks, iron bars and stones. Nyanzi said they were abusing and pelting him with stones.
“The district chief and the CAO were against me. It is well that they had organised the tipper accident. I’m alive because he fired shoots,” he said.
