THE Uganda Printers’ Association has appealed to the Government for consideration when contracts for the printing of Universal Primary Education (UPE) textbooks are up for tendering.
Benon Ssentongo, the association chairman, said last week, following privatisation and liberalisation, competent firms had joined the industry and that they had the capacity to carry out various printing tasks efficiently.
“The biggest consumption of printing services is done outside the country and this is discouraging investment in the industry,†Ssentongo said.
