PARLIAMENT has asked the Ministry of Gender to expedite the drafting of a policy on orphans saying it is a pre-requisite for Uganda to access money from the Global Fund for HIV, TB and Malaria.
“It would be easier for Uganda to access money to care for orphans and provide anti retroviral treatment to eligible patients if Government comes up with a policy regarding orphans and a policy on how people will access Anti-Retrovirals,” the Chairperson of the committee on HIV/AIDS, Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye, Mp Sheema county, North Bushenyi told The New Vision recently after the committee meeting.
The committee had sat to among other things, to handle urgent matters arising out of its strategic plan drawn recently. Tumwesigye said Uganda was going to ask for more money from the Global Fund.
