ANY doctor would have recommended bed rest for the SC Villa team that is carrying so many injuries.
Points are however at stake, and Villa must soldier on with whatever resources they have.
Coach Micho Sredojevic remains confident his squad, whose strength in depth has been stretched razor-thin already, will exhibit the character requisite for them to succeed against Express.
“We shall have to adjust; something we have done with frequency this season. My boys will give it their best in order to succeed against all odds.”
With Emmanuel Balyejjusa (ankle) and Andy Mwesigwa (broken ribs) the latest entrants on an ever-burgeoning casualty list, Micho has been left with only one central defender in his ranks.
“Now, (Sam) Mubiru is without any partner in the heart of our defence. The other defenders; (Godfrey) Kateregga, (Sula) Walusimbi and (Peter) Makanga are wingbacks.”
Balyejjusa and Mwesigwa had been employed as makeshift centre-half partners for Mubiru ever since Timothy Batabaire and Robert Tumusiime succumbed to long-term injuries.
The Yugoslav tactician, whose 12-match winning juggernaut has left his Nile Special Super League adversaries trailing in his wake, has simply failed to conjure the same winning magic against his unseen opponent.
The injury crisis devouring his squad may have handed the initiative to title rivals Express in today’s showdown at Namboole.
Villa are also already without inspirational marksman, Alex Isabirye.
