Judge warns cops on law
KAMPALA — The Nakawa court Chief Magistrate recently warned the Police against prosecuting and judging cases. This followed Interpol Uganda’s failure to produce a Prado it impounded and gave to a third party to sell without a court order.

Schools get text books
KAMPALA — City primary schools will receive sh250m from the education ministry for textbooks, city school inspector Charles Masaba said recently. He was addressing headteachers at Bat Valley primary school. He said the money would be given to government schools.

Immorality irks RDC
KAMPALA — Assistant resident district commissioner Kintu Wamala has said high rate of immorality is caused by the inception of the western culture into Uganda. He was on Friday closing a two-day workshop on domestic violence.

MP decries nepotism
Kampala — Army MP Col. Fred Bogere has decried nepotism in the recruitment of staff in state agencies. He was recently contributing to a debate on the National Forestry Bill. He said members of the National Forest Authority should be recruited by the Public Service Commission.

LCs advise parents
KAMPALA — Local leaders in Mulago and Kyebando have advised parents to avoid domestic violence so as to reduce the number of children on the streets. They made the remarks recently at a workshop.
