JINJA municipality is working on modalities to attract National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to invest in the town.

“Discussions are in advanced stages. We want them to invest in commercial buildings and tourism which have a good business potential,” the mayor, David Wakudumira, said last week.

He said the venture was part of the municipality’s new development programme.

He was meeting councillors at his office.

He said the municipality had showed signs of transformation in development.

He said the local investors could lead the rehabilitation of the town.

“Much as we need the foreign investors, the local investors like NSSF have to help us in our struggle to revive the town’s glory,” Wakudumira said.

He said Jinja’s membership to NSSF was second to Kampala.

He said Jinja had better opportunities for investment.

He said the council was improving the social infrastructure.

Wakudumira said over sh600m had been spent on road maintenance and street lighting.

He urged residents to be tax compliant.
