CRANES have played well only in bursts so far, but will need to fire in a complete game against either Kenya’s Harambee Stars or Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.
Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) assistant secretary Zubair Galiwango said the Cranes, pending response from Kenya and Tanzania, will host either side in their second friendly match on Wednesday.
They then play SC Villa and host Burundi later ahead of their make or break Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda on June 7.
“We held talks with the Kenyan federation president Maina Kariuki and agreed to have the team play here. We had promised to provide tickets for both Kenya and Burundi teams but we only await arrival confirmations from the two federations.
“Tanzania is also on line just in case the others fail. We believe these two games should help to prepare the team,” said Galiwango.
FUFA has spent US$2900 on tickets for foreign based players Meddie Nsubuga, Ibrahim Sekajja and Sulaiman Tenywa for the Rwanda game. Irish based player Livingstone Mbabazi who had a poor outing in Rwanda has been left out.
“We expect them next Monday. Mbabazi will have to pay for himself and if proved on-form, will be refunded.
Meanwhile, Rwanda has called Belgium based professionals Hamadi Ndikumana (Anderlecht), Claude Kalisa and Desie Mbonabucya to bolster Amavubi Stars ahead of the billed encounter. Ends
